A lot of people ask me, what does Breakfast At Raes even mean?
Though the question has been asked many times, it really didn’t sink in until my mom asked me last night, “I always wondered why you named it that.”
To a blogger that builds a brand off the title and look of her site, that point really resinated with me. So, I am here to clear the curiosity, thanks to my mom for pointing out a common question!
I started this blog idea back in my freshmen year of college, due to a professor who suggest if I want to write what’s important to me, then I better start a blog. I started the blog officially in the spring of 2015. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years and all the progress I have made since then.
I remember one night thinking, gee, what am I even going to name my blog? I knew I wanted it to be something witty but not unrecognizable but also I didn’t want it to be just my name. So like any other person, I took to Google and began my search.
Now, I never found the idea of a spin off on the hit novel and movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but I did see other fashion related spin-offs and this one just popped into my head.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, for those of you who are unfamiliar, was one of the most stylish movies of its time and still is one of the most iconic style movies today. The iconic silky black Givenchy dress was unusual for 1961 but thats why it was so great. Women in the 60s did not have as much of a choice when it came to fashion like we do now and like most of us take for granted. It was movies like this and people like Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel that really broke the standard of women’s fashion in the 1960s. Breakfast at Tiffany’s shows elegance, simplicity, attention to detail, accessories and most of all, style.
I’d like to hope that what my blog does is portray my personal style and my personal beliefs so that is why it’s called Breakfast at Rae’s.
Now I didn’t want to call it Breakfast at Rachel’s because to me, that did not really flow nicely so I went with a kind of alter ego spin off on my name, Rae. No one calls me Rae but it is definitely a possible nickname when your name is Rachel.
I hope you enjoyed my story and that it cleared up some curiosity. Maybe someday it will be rachelbimonte.com but for now, Breakfast At Rae’s works for me.
