Hi everyone! So I feel like the changing of the seasons is the perfect time to talk about skincare. I don’t know about you but it seems like right after summer, my skin starts to freak out and get all sorts of dry but oily and then break out! It’s so frustrating. Though as frustrating as it may be, I don’t give up on my skin, I persist! Which is why I bring you: my skincare routine.
Let me just start off by saying: ladies, no matter where you are or what you’re doing, the best thing you can do for your skin is take your makeup off every. single. night!!!!
Let’s get started:
IN THE AM: This is so weird, but I don’t wash my face in the AM! I wash it thoroughly the evening before bed without fail so I like to let the natural oils on my skin in the morning set in. When I wash my face, it gets very dry and I don’t want to start my day with a dry face. Before I put my makeup on, I use the Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer which gets rid of all my dry patches. It is a little bit of a splurge, but worth every cent when my dry skin stays away all day long.
IN THE PM: Before I go to bed every single night, I wash my face. Recently I have been cleansing with Garnier Skin Active Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser and following it up with the St. Ives Green Tea Scrub. The back of the green tea scrub says to make sure skin is clean before exfoliating so I make sure to get any dirt and oil off my face with the Garnier before doing this. My skin feels so clean when I am done with the St. Ives exfoliator, it is seriously amazing. I have been having major break outs around my chin, but I really think it is the black head remover working because it is bringing all the impurities to the surface and really getting rid of them! The exfoliator has the finest grit that really feels like it is working itself into my skin and I get excited to use it every night.
ON OCCASION: You may be thinking, so when do the other products come in? I usually like to do a face mask when I want to relax, when I have time, or when I think my skin really needs it. I haven’t really decided whether I am a sheet mask gal or whether I prefer to apply it myself and wash it off. The I’m Real masks are really nice — I have tried a couple of them and they always leave my skin feeling smooth, but also a bit sticky. The Mudmasky (wash off) is also nice because it highlights how large my pores really are…it’s actually kinda of gross. I really like how tight my face feels with a mask on…I don’t know why I think it’s working better or something if it feels really stiff. I think I have more exploring to do in the mask department, so I am open to suggestions!
A NEW PERSONAL FAVE…but really let me go on and on about the Brazilian Bum Bum cream from Sol de Janeiro: I got this in my most recent Ipsy bag and let me tell you..it’s fantastic! First off, it smells amazing like the lingering scent is unreal. I have never been the type that has a smell stick to me but this really does and I could not be happier. Plus, it is supposed to tighten up your skin? I will take that any day. Even if it doesn’t tighten my skin, which it totally may, it is a great moisturizer either way! It has the finest shimmer to it and I could go on forever about it. Needless to say, I need buckets of this in my life.
