How I Shop on a Budget

Hi everyone! How are you all doing? I am almost at 100 followers here on WordPress and honestly, I cannot believe it. I am so excited you are all enjoying my content enough to follow along—so it means a lot to me!

Today I am sharing How I Shop on a Budget. My friends, family and sometimes people I don’t even know that well are always asking me, how do you have such nice clothes but you confess that you don’t spend a lot of money?

Well, I will let you in on my BIG secret. Here it goes (and you may think this is wacky, but it’s how ya girl stays on a budget): I have little price-points in my head for every article of clothing and if it meets that price-point or falls below it, I will usually get it (and that’s only if I am completely in love with the item or actually need it). If it’s above, well it better be a MUST HAVE or I am NOT getting it. Below I will share my price points for different clothing items that the price MUST fall below. *This is for everyday/weekend wear (meaning, if it is an important event, no, I don’t cap my dress price at $25.)*

My newest finds + purchases

IMG_7638.JPG

Hi everyone! Long time no blog! Today I wanted to share my newest finds and purchases because well, I have been using these 4 things religiously! I love when I purchase something and it really impacts my every day life, because that means it was an investment. I almost laugh at the word investment because I never purchase anything over $20…but for me, investment.

Reviewing the 2018 Met Gala

F2B18089-82EB-4C45-B5D6-41D45578A058.JPGHappy Second Tuesday in May everyone!! Last night was the First Monday in May (a.k.a.: the date that the Met Gala is on every single year!)

If you’re like me, you were keeping up with the Met Gala Red Carpet on E! News as it was happening. I am assuming people that were not watching, were definitely staying tuned via social media.

Each year the Met Gala has a theme that is chosen by Editor-in-Chief at Vogue, Anna Wintour and her team of fashion peeps. This year the theme was Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. Past years the themes have been, 2017: Comme des Garçons, 2016: Manus x Machina, 2015: China: Through the looking glass. This year’s theme, having to do with religion, had potential to be controversial—but that’s just what fashion aims to do—push the envelope.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I was taking polls on my Insta stories last night! I asked all my followers what they thought of celebs outfits and they voted accordingly! It was so cool to see what you guys thought of the looks too. You also would have seen the little fact I wrote, that my FIRST EVER blog post, four YEARS ago was actually my review of the 2014 Met Gala: Fashion Live from the Red Carpet. SO it was only fitting that I write a review, four years later on the same thing. I unfortunately have deleted the post (sad, I know, I would have LOVED to go back and read what I wrote) but I did a big clean out when I started to get really serious about blogging.

Now that we have a sense of background for the event, let’s get into the looks of the night. I had a lot of ‘LOVEs’ a couple ‘EHs’ and a handful of ‘NO WAYs’. Tonight I am just going to feature my LOVEs because I believe that even though I did not like a look, that doesn’t mean the design was not beautiful or that other people did not love it! Fashion is all about self expression, so putting someone down for what they decided to wear on their body is not what I am interested for this blog post.

Sunnies I’m Obsessed With Lately

IMG_7255

Hi everyone + Happy Sunday!

I hope you all had a nice weekend—I sure did! The weather was amazing, so it got me thinking a LOT about sunglasses that I like lately.

Recently I have been following Youtuber Alex Garza, and her content is FAB! I will link her channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheAlexandreaGarza if you like her stuff, subscribe! She puts out awesome videos and one of them, featuring stuff she buys on Amazon, had those amazing glasses in the photo above. When I saw that she wears them, I had to have them. Plus, they’re super cute and different than the sunnies I normally wear. With a really chic outfit, they could totally work. I am not saying I’ll wear them every day, but at the right time they’re really fun.

Of course the second I purchase these, I see an article on Facebook featuring “Retro Sunglasses you’ll be seeing a lot more of” and it has the pic of these EXACT glasses, but with white on the rim…oh well! Trends catch up to us all eventually.

My Three Favorite Stores and Why

DSC_6313.JPG

Blazer & shoes from Charlotte Russe, Jeans from Zara and tank from Marshalls (I think!!?) Sunglasses from Forever 21 which I LOOOOVE! Colourpop on the lips xo

Hi everyone!

Lately when I come up for an idea for a post, I think to myself, would this headline make me want to read the article? I think it is a really useful tactic for writers to do because if I myself wouldn’t read it, what would make my readers want to?

With this in mind, I am channeling a LOT of the questions I get asked by my friends and acquaintances. My friends always ask me what stores I shop at, where I get my clothes and how I get them for so cheap. (Shopping the sales will be its own post!)

For now, let’s get into my three favorite stores to shop at — or shall I say, the three stores I shop at the most, that do the job, are trendy and affordable.

How I do my signature top knot

IMG_6702.jpg

Different hair styles are SO fun to me! I think hair is such a challenge. Makeup can be learned, practiced and perfected to your liking; style takes years to build, but once you know what you like and what works for you, you’re golden. Hair, on the other hand is always a surprise.

I don’t know about you, but one day I can straighten my hair and it’ll look a certain way, and the next do the exact same thing and it can look completely different…what is with that?! Never mind curling my hair, that’s a shot in the dark, and so are certain updos, braids and ESPECIALLY top knots.

So, how do I get my signature top knot? Let’s get started!
